One day Awareness Programme on “ Drug Free Youth” was organized by  National Institute of Social Defense (NISD), Ministry of Social Justice & Empowerment, Government of India in collaboration with  Health Fitness Trust( HFT), Delhi  for the senior school students (Class IX to XII) at  Nehru stadium on 22 December, 2016 from 10am to 2pm. About 500 Students from 26 schools   across Delhi attended the programme along with their teachers.

More than 500 students from 26 Schools from Delhi NCR participated in the Event which was held in JawaharLal Nehru Stadium.

The inauguration of the programme was done by Mr Khagesh Garg, Director (DP), Ministry of Social Justice & Empowerment with the Pledge to stay away from use of drugs and encourage healthy living among youth. A symbolic run of 1 km was flagged off in the presence of Dr Bhure Lal, ChairmanEnvironment Protection Controlling Authority, Sh Anand Katoch, Director-NISD, Dr. Sunita Godara, Director-HFT, Shri SC Vats from Dte of Prohibition, Delhi Government and other stakeholders working in the field of drug abuse prevention. The awareness programme included series of interactive activities such as poster display, Thematic show by Song and Drama Division of I & B Ministry, distribution Information material &  T shirts to all participants, display by the Directorate of Prohibition, Department  of Social Welfare, Government of NCT of Delhi  etc.

To spread further awareness among the Youth, NISD has planned a series of events for Schools and Colleges in collaboration with HFT.
